Heart of the Home!

Thanks to Shelia, my musical friend over at Note Songs, for hosting the “Heart of the Home” party! I have not shared my kitchen much because I use it and I have three children! Our kitchen truly is the heart of the home as we are usually all here together. So come on in, help yourself to a cup of coffee and let’s visit!

It is truly an open plan, and this works great for us!
I have accessorized mostly with hand-painted Spanish, Turkish and Mexican Talavera pottery which gives us a little Mediterranean flavor.

Truly the heart of everything is the coffee pot! It is always ready, which is why we love our Bunn. For espresso, I use the pot on the stove. It makes wonderful espresso. The pots on top of the cabinets are from New Mexico. The large platters are Mexican.

Of course I use my Hull “Brown Drip” creamer and sugar bowl…
I painted and glazed the backsplash after seeing a photo that inspired me.
This is one of the Pier One “Vallarta” plates that Dana at “Ranch Dressing” gave me. I love it here:-) Also, my new prized possessions…the Pyrex “Butterfly Gold” cinderella mixing bowls. I love these!
I picked up this woven and embroidered piece in La Paz, Bolivia. I love the colors and the texture.
A sneak peek at what is coming tomorrow for Tablescape Thursday…
I bought this wrought iron basket in Turkey for a whopping $22. I keep it filled with sparkly fruit that would have been Christmas ornaments.
I am usually here serving everyone! There is plenty of space, and everyone can gather on the other side while I serve on this side. You can see I have some tile to finish here:-(
I did not make this bread, I just imagine that I did!
The heart of the home must have some kid art on the fridge! I did edit it though. The wood piece on the counter is a pilon from Puerto Rico.
The heart of the home must also be a place for children to do homework!
So this is our kitchen! We do spend a lot of time here and my parents come over frequently. It’s a great place for family and friends to share. There is not a speck of granite, or tile, or a commercial stove, and no one has ever noticed:-) It’s all about family, sharing, and being so thankful for what we have.
Thank you sweet Shelia for hosting this lovely party! I am so happy you stopped by! I will be visiting you too:-) Now go by and visit Shelia and all her wonderful participants!
