New vintage bedroom and the photo shoot…

Finally we finished the renovations in the bedroom just in time for Anne Gridley and Gary Graves to photograph it and the rest of the house last Thursday and Friday. If you have followed our journey, you already know about the delays and setbacks. Despite all that, it turned out exactly as we had hoped and we just love it.

Pretty much everything is a family heirloom or at least vintage or antique.

A vintage chenille bedspread is perfect for the antique iron bed I restored.

A sweet and thoughtful neighbor had given me these antique frames, so I knew exactly where I wanted to put them.

Vintage gowns and robes all belonged to family members.

I ended up painting the room BHG “Sunlit White” because I really wanted the antique doors to stand out. And do they ever. I ended up restoring and hanging 12 of them all with vintage glass door knobs and locks. We also added beadboard to these two closets, and that really gave the whole room a more vintage feel.

My grandfather made the frame for this print and signed the back in 1935.

There are five antique doors in this room.

Two of the paintings, including this one, were painted by my uncle Rex Thrower in the 1960s. He was a rancher in Montana and also a well-known painter of western scenes. I have always loved the colors in this one.

I found the perfect spot for my great grandfather’s table in front of the windows overlooking the creek.

My mother let me borrow the mirror for the photo shoot. I have a plan for replacing it when I have to give it back:-)

We really do love how it turned out. It’s so bright and sunny in here, especially when the morning sun is pouring in. It actually seems larger even though we took up the alcove space with the closets.

You can check out “before” shots HERERestoring the Iron Bed, and how the room actually started out HERE

As for the photo shoot last week, it was *amazing* and we really enjoyed not only seeing their work flow but also chatting with them about music. Both fans of all kinds of music, Gary is a big fan of opera and classical guitar, so we had a lot to talk about!

I will let everyone know when and where the photos will be when I know.

Of course, today is Memorial Day and a holiday that I do not take lightly. As a veteran myself,  I am forever grateful to those who gave their lives for freedom. This is a video Luis and I made for our church observance of Memorial Day. Never forget freedom is not free.

Thanks for stopping by:-)

Beautiful Anita. Just beautiful. All the heirloom pieces makes it even more special. I know the remainder of the home and the gardens and porches were just as breath takingly beautiful as well.
