Fall decorating ideas for outdoors

One thing I have always loved to do is use organic elements in decorating — both inside and out. Instead of heading to a big box decor store, just look around your own yard, or even a neighbor’s, for things you can use to decorate your home for fall. Be sure to ask your neighbor first, though:-)

I thought I would share some of the things I have done in the past to decorate our outdoor areas for fall.

I really like for my decor to reflect the area I live, and here in the mountains, fall is all about the harvest, Carolina blue skies, brilliantly colored leaves, and cool, crisp air.

I usually just gather what I can find outside– including corn stalks, wildflowers, weeds, pine cones, tree branches and wood.

Obviously, I do not have any allergies to poison sumac:-) It sure is pretty, though.

I put coffee cans inside these market baskets to hold an assortment of weeds and corn husks.

My dad always grows plenty of corn in the garden. After he harvests it, I go through with the machete and cut the stalks down.

Cornstalks, mums and pumpkins are perfect for a country porch.

I bet I’m the only blogger with a hog lot:-)

Last year, I went with a less-traditional look and simply put bunches of wildflowers and branches in pots.

I made the grapevine wreath and tucked some wildflowers in to dry.

As hot as it is right now, the days are getting shorter so I know it won’t be long…

…until the leaves start to turn and the magic of fall appears.

…if only for a few magical weeks.

Nature at its very best:-)

Thanks for stopping by:-)

How luvly. Many years ago, I lived in Virginia and our condo looked out toward a beautiful valley. My first Fall there was the most beautiful thing.. the mountain side looked like someone spilled a Crayola box. Your pictures remind me so much of that.

Anita, everything is so beautiful. I enjoyed this post very much. I've lived on a 100acre farm for 32 years now and boy do we have corn but I've never thought to line baskets with corn husks. I am now though! Thanks for the beautiful inspiration.
