Lunch on the porch

Wednesday my friend Bonnie brought me the sweetest bouquet of flowers.

Bonnie, like my mom, has a talent for arranging flowers into the most effortless-looking but gorgeous bouquets. I appreciate this talent because it is one I do not possess. At all.

I thought a girls’ lunch on the porch would be most appropriate for this pretty bouquet, so I decided to get the Franciscan “Desert Rose” and set up a little table outside.

I layered an old lace tablecloth over a pink sari to add a little color.

I just have a few of the “Desert Rose” pieces, but I love using them and love how they coordinate with my Franciscan “Ivy” dishes.

I added the Fostoria “Moonstone” glasses my mom bought for my youngest daughter.

And of course, the Wallace “Louvre” sterling flatware with the repousse pattern is perfect with the florals. The mother of pearl knife is part of an antique Landers/Frary and Clark collection.

My grandmother’s iron furniture provided a pretty vintage background…

…accented with a pretty pink pillow made from vintage Chinese silk and a Walmart-find yellow pillow.

The setting, next to the creek, is perfect for a little sweet tea and spicy talk…

…and a reminder that we need to do more of that.

Because friends are special:-)

Bonnie has had some serious health issues the last few years and was having an IVIG treatment yesterday, so I hoped to brighten her day by sending her a little sneak peek of the table in hopes of getting her mind off her treatment. And we will share our lunch on the porch when all our kids are back in school:-)

I’ll be joining:

A lovely lunch. Those dishes bring back memories. My Mom had some when I was little and I hated them. What I would give to have some now. I think of all the dinners we had on those plates and the good times.

i cannot tell you how so very gorgeous the "lunch on the patio" is. It makes you just want to sit out there all day and enjoy your surroundings and the beautifully done table. The colors you chose are magnificent…truly a work of art in a most serene and enchanting setting!

Gorgeous table, Anita. Delightful indeed. I love your flowers, dishes, napkins and napkin rings and the lovely cloth. The glasses add just the perfect touch. Your antique bench with colorful pillows adds that vintage elegance and the pretty ferns make it alive.

    Pinning this to enjoy more.
