The bright side of fall

If I could choose only one word to describe fall, it would be “vibrant.” For me, autumn is seriously an overload for the senses, and I love embracing that feeling inside my home as well.

In my dining space, I have added more Native American art from my collection, changed up the gallery wall above the buffet, and clipped some fall leaves from the yard to bring in some yellow.

I’m loving the jute placemats from Walmart and the added layer of texture they bring to the table. A plaid napkin brings all the colors from the Blue Willow dinnerware, iridescent glassware and Indian silk runner together.

I added some pottery to the candles on the DIY horseshoe centerpiece I made a few weeks ago.

I have been seriously nostalgic for my 1970s childhood, and found this working GE Mustang II record player at my parents’ house. I seriously love it, and who would have ever known how much my two younger kids would love it? They are fascinated by how it works.

It’s just so retro:-)

I changed up the art above the buffet using a painting by my late uncle, a Montana rancher and Western artist.

The colors and subject could not be more perfect, and it reminds me of the trip my dad and I took to visit family in Montana and South Dakota in the fall of 1998.

It’s bold, it’s fun and we are enjoying the eclectic Bohemian chic feel the room has.

It certainly is warm and cozy–and just perfect for Autumn:-)

Thanks Barbara! Ha, of course Dave Brubeck! We love him and named our studio where we taught music, "Take Five Studios." I think I've played it myself at least 1000 times:-)

Anita, I love this Bohemian Spice color you've added. Color is a very beg deal to me for some reason. I see lots of bloggers "bleaching" everything out; their walls, furniture, cabinets, and buying white fall décor. Pretty, but so uninspiring to me. Yet, your color is not the traditional colors we see of Autumn either. It's a nice change and perspective. I think this Bohemian spice would do me lots of good in January, when it is bleak and cold out. I am usually not inspired to decorate and craving color, as if it were chocolate, in January! Beautiful work, Anita!
