Fall Inspiration

It’s that time of year again. I don’t know exactly what it is, but when the kids start back to school and we get a little respite from the summer heat, I start thinking fall. I think the nostalgia of it all is what ultimately lures me in, but regardless of my motivation, I start longing for all things autumn.

Even though the leaves won’t *officially* change until mid-October, autumn is definitely in the air here in the North Carolina mountains. Farmer’s markets are full of apples, local cider, pumpkins and other late-season goodness.

I am in love with the bold colors of fall because everything, from the sky to the leaves, comes alive with over-saturated color.

I will try to bring that inside as well with natural elements.

I’ll use colorful kilim rugs…

…along with colorful candles and mini pumpkins.

I’ll snip branches from the trees.

And I’ll make simple decorative accents with late summer produce.

I’ll bring out the iridescent glassware and vanilla-strawberry hydrangeas that dry so beautifully.

I’ll add faux fur pillows…

…and new kilim pillows in warm, fall tones.

Of course, Native art will take center stage…

…and vintage candles will add a warm glow.

Soft throws will be close by…

…and we will be ready to enjoy this:-)

Yes, I’m looking forward to autumn and to enjoying everything it offers.
