Christmas dining room and kitchen pics that didn’t make the magazine

Since I have all these photos already, and no one has seen them, I couldn’t just let them sit in my computer, right?  Especially since they are so different from what I’ve done this year in the house, which y’all can see next Friday, Dec. 9 on Marty’s 2016 Christmas Home Tour. These are all from the shoot I did last winter for Romantic Homes Magazine. I’ll share the dining room and kitchen today and finish up with the bedroom later.

I had this Christmas tree, but had not used it in a several years. I decided to put it here in this spot and ended up loving it there.

I used my old board and grandmother’s yule log, as usual with a mixture of fresh pine, Shiny Brites and pine cones.

I layered Mikasa Italian Countryside, Wedgwood Queen’s Plain, and Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles on sheet music placemats. The cup and saucer is J & G Meakin Romantic England, and the glassware is Fostoria Moonstone pink and Argus green. The flatware is antique sterling, Louvre, by Wallace.

I just could not figure out what to do with the buffet. so I ended up borrowing the brass candelabra and deer from my mom and using the green decanter set she gave me a few years ago, along with fresh greens.

In the kitchen, I went with my usual vintage Christmas keepsakes as well as lots of pine and color.

My grandmother’s apron:-)

I decided last minute to use the Blue Ridge Pottery Stanhome Ivy pattern instead of a more traditional Christmas china, and loved how this pattern looked.

Of course, my mom’s fruitcake, which is to die for deliciousness, was featured in the magazine.

It’s funny how I always look back to see what I did the year before, then change everything up. Some things never change, though, so you know there will still be lots of color in this year’s tour coming up next week:-)

You can still find the December Romantic Homes on news stands, and if you missed it, my Christmas feature in Southern Cottage.

I like how your kitchen has a retro look with the dishes. I always admired your collection of dishes and I know some of them are your moms, which make it more special. The brilliant pink brings a modern edge, so pretty in pink:).

Yes, I am a year late in seeing this. Your table is truly stunning, the pinks & greens, the flatware is a wow in itself. It has a sweet retro feel and even though there is a lot of color, it seems so welcoming. Thanks for the great photos. I have pink in my fancy china and now I think I may just add green and some stripes, jazz it up a bit. Thanks.
