Winter in the mountains

We finally got some snow here in the North Carolina mountains.

And beautiful it is — although the freezing temps have been a challenge.

My fire pit in the back yard is all covered over.

There is nothing I enjoy more than this magical covering of sparkly, white snow.

I took the wreaths off the french doors because they impeded the view, but other than that, the porch is still dressed for Christmas, but this will transition into winter.

That’s how we do winter outside here. Come back and I’ll show you how we warm things up inside with the Danish concept of “hygge.”

Absolutely gorgeous. I am glad I don't live in snow country anymore, but I love, love, love seeing the pictures.

Beautiful in your area. We have about 8 inches here in Saluda and it is beautiful too. I just wish we were not snow bound. Have to wait another day or two for snow to melt off these secondary, shaded mountain roads.

Anita, this is truly a winter wonderland. No snow here in TX, just freezing temps. Warming now! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home in its snowbound state. '-)

Oh, Anita – that is absolutely gorgeous. What a wonderful winter home you have tucked up high on that hill overlooking such splendor. Thanks for sharing with us! I too adore winter – there's nothing like it and I always am sad for those who have never experienced it.

Have a happy and healthy new year!

We got the same snow here in the Piedmont area (Winston-Salem) Anita, and I have loved it!! It's been a beautiful snow, and your pictures are great. Hope you enjoy this winter wonderland and stay warm and cozy. 🙂

Your photos are always so exceptional and professional, whether inside or outdoors. I'm farther north in Midwest and didn't get nearly as much snow as you – and, of course, I don't have the home in the woods which makes it even more beautiful.

    Hi,

    I want to thank you.

I have been redecorating my living room and I have had a very difficult time with upholstery fabrics that would combine well with the new wallpaper and drapes. For inspiration I have been looking through my back issues of different magazines and I came across the piece you did for Romantic Homes last year. It solved all my issues. Yes! I can combine gold and red/pinks, something I wanted to do but was a bit leery of. My room is a bit more formal than yours but I still think it will work.

When it is completely finished I will send you a link so you can see what your artistic vision helped inspire. Have a great day.

You have a beautiful home Anita! And i love the front porch, it looks like one could sit there and enjoy the snowy landscape in relative comfort.
