Red and green Christmas bedroom

Christmas is just over a week away, so I wanted to share my bedroom all ready for a cozy, winter holiday — or what I really need — a *long* winter’s nap😭😊

I really didn’t do much but add some fresh greenry, and that was all this room needed for a little extra cheer.

I scattered a few sentimental Christmas things from my childhood around as well.

I borrowed this antique oil lamp from my parents when the power went out. I used my great grandfather’s lamp in the kitchen, and brought this one in here.

I pretty much always use all white linens then maybe an accent color, and I’ve layered a down blanket, chenille spread and down comforter. This comforter was **so** warm we didn’t get cold even with no heat in the house and around 19º at night.

I added a cheery pop of red with the kilim pillow.

Of course the real pop of red is from these curtains my mother made in the late 1970s. They were always my favorite and are so well made, they will last many more years.

On the mantel, I draped some pine garland and added some pinecones.

I made the stocking in the middle, and picked up the other two last year.

The candelabra was purchased by my mother in Lebanon in 1974 and goes so nicely with the Moroccan mirror, and Turkish plate and lantern I bought in Turkey. I love the middle east connection of these things to Christmas, since that’s where it all began. The Indian incense burner was inherited from a relative.

A few weeks back, we had a guy come clean out our ductwork, and he thought our house was really old based particularly on these doors😊 I couldn’t have been happier! These are the doors from the old house that I hauled out of the little guest house, restored and hung, complete with antique hardware. They sure make me happy and really make a difference in this house.

Of course the antique iron bed is my favorite thing and one I’m so happy I rescued.

So many things here mean something to me — great grandfather’s drop leaf table, grandmother’s trunk, inherited mirrors and chests, original paintings from family members, and all those things keep me grounded and connected to my family.

I do love this room, and it’s so cheery and cozy this time of year, I don’t want to leave.

It’s hard to believe, but that is it for my Christmas decor this year. It just seems like it came and went, and I’m still raking up fall leaves. I’m definitely ready for things to slow way down so I can catch my breath and enjoy some family time right here:-)

One could drool over every photo and then drool some more. I am a blue and green person myself but the way you handle reds and jewel tones put me in danger of being converted. What a lovely room. How do you ever step out the door?
