Memorial Day

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share a patriotic tablescape that could be used for Memorial Day or for July 4th.

I always love when it’s porch weather, and I love to eat alfresco.

I made the buffalo check table cloth out of outdoor fabric, which means it’s easy care and will hold up to the humidity, etc. I added a vintage table cloth on the diagonal.

I used Mikasa Italian Countryside dinner plates as chargers along with my Blue Willow plates, Noritake Perspective sherbets, and blue iced tea glasses my mom gave me years ago.

I bought the gingham napkins last year at amazon because we use cloth exclusively, and these have been great for every day.

I thought I’d glam things up a bit, so I added the Wallace Louvre sterling flatware from 1893.

I also used the vintage red hobnail candle holders my mom gave me several years ago.

I bought this pot of flowers a few weeks ago for the porch and realized they were perfect for an easy centerpiece — especially in the blue and white planter.

I love having the table in the covered area because we can use it any time, and it has saved wear and tear on the table. Plus, it’s definitely cooler when it’s hot out.

We’ll be hosting my parents on Monday afternoon for a cookout, and hope to just enjoy some nice, quiet family time.

First, though, I hope you will remember what this holiday is about. So many men and women did not return home to their families over the 200+ years this country has been in existence. There are empty chairs at many tables now, and we owe each one of these brave men and women, and their families, our heartfelt thanks.

I still love this arrangement of Battle Hymn that was written for me to sing on The Nashville Network when I was a vocalist with the Band of the Air Force Reserve years ago, so my husband and I rerecorded my vocals and shot video to share adding some tributes to service members who died, whose family members we know. Featuring the Band of the Air Force Reserve and Christ Church Choir.

For those who made the ultimate sacrifice…

Oh, Anita = your centerpiece is absolutely stunning! I think you did an amazing job on it. I love it is R W and B – yet so tastefully put together. Your porch is amazing – I'd LOVE to sit there and dine outdoors – wow!

And God bless those fallen heroes who have given their lives for us to live free. Thank you for that very important reminder.

    Hugs.
