Cozy winter decor

After Christmas, I really do love to get the house all straightened up and let it breathe for winter, and usually that means I bring in more white. This year, though, I really wanted to keep the green and red palette because the winter landscape here is full of evergreens and red berries, so I packed up the Christmas-specific items and added more greenery from the property and other accessories I had.

I re-styled the shelves in the kitchen by adding in more green with two McCoy planters, a pine cone creamer and some Balsam branches tucked around.

Since my grandmother’s Chinese tea set has all the colors, I brought it back in as well.

The addition of the green McCoy really made it *right* to my eye and perfect for this season.

The Blue Ridge Potteries Stanhome Ivy platter was a find from my parents’ attic, and a pattern I absolutely love this time of year.

I sprinkled around some greenery arrangements, because they’re free, and I love the winter feel a bunch of pretty evergreens can add to a space.

On the mantel, I gathered cedar, Nandina berries and juniper branches and placed them in a vintage Mason’s Vista pitcher.

I’m still in love with the velvet mantel scarf I made last fall, so it will probably stay for a long, long time. I added a vintage Battenburg doily I found.

I’ve said it many times, but I’ll say again, I love winter. The light we get is amazing between the direction the sun comes in and the bare trees. It warms my soul for sure.

I didn’t change much, but really just rearranged some things and traded for some others that were in the china cabinets.

Greenery is always a welcome addition, and this time of year it’s an especially welcome live element in my home.

You don’t need to run out to a store or order more *stuff* online to keep things looking warm, cozy and welcoming for winter. Just shop your own home, rearrange some furniture, and add some clippings from outside.

The little things really are the big things😊

Beautiful Anita. I don't remember the black cabinet with gold trim before. Is it a new piece ?

Everything looks so beautiful and inviting! Adding the greenery AFTER Christmas is a great idea! Who says it has to be only for Christmas! Unfortunately for me, yesterday, about 100 robins attacked my hollies for about and hour. There isn't a berry left! Still, that was a sight I hadn't seen before. I've never seen that many robins together either.

Hope you don't mind a question about an older post here. Curious about your kitchen cabinets…especially since it's been a while since you did them. Two coats of paint, distressing and sand, then Minwax gel stain. Wondering if you wish you'd added some poly or lacquer? Or, have they held up well? I recently bought a 20 yo house with perfectly good oak cabinets. 46 linear ft! Looking for a way to update the look without replacing.

What a beautiful room. The red and white china is just gorgeous! My eyes were immediately drawn to the lovely granny square crochet blanket on the chair – beautiful!
