Country Christmas Porch

Hello friends! I didn’t think I’d get to share the porch this year, but I took a few quick photos yesterday before the 0° temps hit🥶 I am honestly not inspired to shoot outside Christmas photos when there’s no snow, for one because we live in the woods, and everything is brown, but thought I would try a few anyway.

I pretty much do the same thing every year, and this year was no different☺️

I always use colored lights around the railing (Daddy says they remind him of the old store☺️), and the clear ones around the roof, I leave up all year round. I had several types of garland that were given to me, so I drape those around the railings. I’d love to have fresh pine garlands, but I’d need so much it would be very cost prohibitive!

I always fill this pot with fresh greenery and nandina berries. Since the pot has dirt, the cuttings last forever, and some end up rooting when I finally take them out in the early spring.

I had the scarves left over from another design project and decided to use them out here.

I always embellish the faux wreaths with fresh nandina branches, white pine and cedar. I hung them on the doors for photos then returned them to the shutters because I can’t stand how they block the view and light from inside the doors:-)

Every year, I get out granddaddy’s sled, and I found the roller skates in the old garage. The truck belonged to my brother, and it’s just one of those little touches that makes me smile and remember my childhood Christmases☺️

I make all of the bows from scraps of fabric, and I’ve used these same ones for probably five-six years now.

These pillows were actually summer outdoor pillows I got at Walmart several years ago when they were all $5. The same pillows were $15 this year thanks to inflation🤷🏻‍♀️  They’re perfect all year round, but especially for Christmas.

Here are a few late evening photos…

We don’t live on a main road where people can see our house, but my parents are next door, and we have two neighbors that can see our house in winter, so I love to have the outside lights on when my daddy and husband come home from work in the dark, and also just to add a bit of cheer to the dark nights for our neighbors if they look this way☺️

We had a bit of snow last night, but certainly not what we are used to getting here. We are however experiencing bitter cold with a high of 7° today and the next few nights at -2°.

Wherever you are, I hope you’re warm and safe🙏

This has certainly been a year with many challenges for all of us, but also with many blessings. And those are what I choose to think on.

I certainly wish you all a very merry Christmas and hope for good things in the new year❤️❤️❤️

    It’s all so lovely!
What is the story behind the
    No digging shrubbery beyond here
    Sign?

Thank you!! I’ll have to ask daddy. It’s been here my whole life but not sure where granddaddy got it. He did paint signs for people and had a store, so it might have just been given to him there.

Your porch is decorated beautifully for Christmas. You just want to sit down and have a cup of cocoa.

Hi Anita, I don’t know how I missed this tour! I suppose it was due to the hustle and bustle of the holiday. Your porch is absolutely dreamy my friend and your decorating style is just what I love. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and especially want to wish you a very happy and healthy new year hopefully with less challenges for everybody☺️
