Hello friends! I’m so excited to be sharing my summer kitchen! Y’all know how I love to change around my dinnerware, curtains, etc., seasonally because I don’t like to leaves things in cabinets – I want to use them, and the only way to do that is to rotate things in and out.

Several years ago, my friend Alicia gave me this vintage fabric. I think I remember it was a pair of curtains. I, of course, fell in love with it and knew it would be perfect with the pinks I love so much. I’ve not used it in a few years, so I was excited to get it back out again.

I brought out all the pink things I had, but these two towels on the right are new from Walmart. I loved the print, and I use a lot of kitchen towels, so a few extra come in handy.

I mixed Brown Drip with vintage pink Gooseberry Pyrex, a Blue Ridge plate from mother’s attic, and my collection of Hazel Atlas “Ripple Pink.”

Sometimes referred to as “Pink Crinoline,” the Ripple Pink came from two different sides of my family. Some came from mother’s great great uncle Jim Shelton, who married the only Walker sister – of Great Smoky Mountains National Park fame, to marry, and whose photographs of the sisters, the early GSMNP, etc., are featured in many archival collections. The rest of my collection came from my paternal great grandmother who lived here on this property in her later years.

I love this Blue Ridge Pottery plate with pink and black – it’s perfect with my grandmother’s little cow salt and pepper shakers and her cow creamer.

I made the pink “towel” and added some of the leftover vintage fabric, and layered a towel I made from granddaddy’s old feed sacks.

The rug here belonged to my great grandmother.

On the table, I used some fabric I simply folded as a runner and added some of mother’s magnolia blooms in a vintage Minton bowl, and the oil lamps from the old house.

I love this combination of pinks and am so happy I got this fabric out for summer. I really do like to rotate things in and out, because I hate for something to not be used hidden in a cabinet. This is exactly why I don’t get rid of things just because I haven’t “used them in a year.” That would be a disaster😂 It also keeps me from buying anything new because I just shop my own cupboards and closets – and mother’s attic of course😊
There’s a new video up on the channel with some history and photos of my uncle Jim and the Walker sisters, as well as behind-the-scenes of decorating the kitchen, so be sure to check that out!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and remember to shop your own home for a fresh new look!
