Beautiful Thanksgiving Tablescape in Mother’s Dining Room!

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to share a beautiful tablescape next door at my parents’ house in mother’s beautiful dining room!!

I wanted to use her Mikasa Tartan Red, and decided to combine it with two other patterns to keep it looking Fall and not Christmas.

I used Mikasa Parchment Rogue for salad plates and cups and saucers, and layered a Johnson Brothers Friendly Village luncheon plate to add some brown and bridge the gap between the smaller Parchment salad/dessert plate and the Tartan dinner plate. I used an embroidered luncheon napkin from her inherited linen collection, and placed silver chargers at each setting.

I added my Wallace and Sons “Louvre” sterling flatware from 1893 and Cristal D’Arques Durand “Longchanp” iced tea glasses from the 1990s.

For the centerpiece, I clipped magnolia, mountain fire pieris and Japanese Maple leaves from her garden and added limelight hydrangeas to really keep this table in the Fall season. A burlap table runner also keeps it from feeling too formal.

Mother’s inherited sterling silver candle holders are perfect with all the warm colors and textures.

This is the house my paternal grandparents built, and this dining room is nice and large at 12′ x 16′ with large windows on three sides, and mother has lots of beautiful inherited antique furniture and rugs to decorate with.

Since I don’t have a formal dining room, I was so excited to get to set this pretty table here in this lovely room. The table has multiple leaves and can seat 12, and I can tell you we have had a lot of wonderful meals and fellowship in this room over the years.

And, of course, it’s not about the table settings or even the food, but about having family and friends right here making memories that will last a lifetime❤️

I have a video on the channel showing some of the behind-the-scenes sand our first frost, so be sure to check that out. Funny enough, it’s 20 and snowing currently🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Simply lovely! I love how the burlap runner just adds a hint of rustic.

Between you and your mother, do you know how many sets of dishes you have? I say this because I too have an abundance of love for dishes, and I might just be trying to feel a little less guilty for how many I have, lol. 😆

A beautiful room! So nice to read that you refer to your mother as “Mother”. My generation, all us cousins, called our mothers Mother. Mama was my grandmother – everyone called her that, her chidren and grandchildren.

Anita, everything is just stunning, but very cozy and homey!! I love how you honor your heritage from family and include it in your spirit of decor. You are a very talented lady in every sense of the word. I love to view your blog, and listen to your stories. I guess my only question is; are your candles really burning or are they faux? Beautiful either way, but I always worry about the wax of real candles getting on furniture and tablecloths. However, I do adore the real candle look with lots of wax drips down the sides.

Thank you so much Kathleen!! These are real, and if I were going to have them lit very long, I’d add some glass bobeches mother has that will catch drips. I’ve definitely had wax drip over the years so I use those when they’re lit more than a few minutes.

You’re videos are always a step above…gorgeous, and really lovely. I can see where you received your love for old woods. I just haven’t bought into white, except in the kitchen laced with lots of red. Using silver trays is brilliant. I wonder if I can find 6 more before Thanksgiving, lol. Enjoyed, Sandi

Thank you so much Sandra!! I see them a lot out thrifting, and they’re always available on eBay as well🙂
