Hello friends! I know it seems to take me forever between posts, but sometimes it takes me a while to settle in and get things exactly how I’ve envisioned them in my mind. And because I use what I have, that makes the challenge even greater!
I wanted to use the quilt my great aunts made for me, and I wanted to move the furniture around, so it took a minute to get it all together and turn it into the vision I had of a spring farmhouse bedroom in Appalachia. I wanted light, bright and airy, and I love how it turned out.
My great aunts Kate and Frances made this beautiful Dresden Plate quilt for me many years ago. Pictured below left to right are my Aunt Frances, Aunt Kate, Aunt Leta, Great Grandpa Chandler and my handsome Pappaw Chandler.
I had a hard time figuring out exactly what colors to use around it, and a few years back, when I repainted and installed the Victorian trim in this room, I realized this quilt needed to be the focal point with mostly white and neutral around it. I also kept things simple as far as pillows and love this look.
Aunt Kate started the quilt, and after she passed away, Aunt Frances finished it. Neither of them ever had children so this is very special to me.
At the foot of the bed, I displayed a blanket my Mammaw Chandler made for my first baby. This is truly a treasure, and it is on the cedar chest Aunt Frances left to me after she passed.
This Victorian era dresser and mirror were inherited, and although the original mirror is gone, this one works nicely with it.
All of the doors and trim in here are restored from the house daddy grew up in here and a project I completed a few years back.
This is another inherited dresser, and I restored this medicine cabinet that belonged to my grandparents a few years back.
The bowl and pitcher belonged to my paternal grandmother Isabelle, and the shamrock runner was made by Mammaw Chandler.
The night gown belonged to my great Nannie on daddy’s side, and the little robe belonged to my granddaddy.
On the mantel, I arranged some flowers from mother’s yard, old books and my grandmother’s china figurine. The mirror and chair were also in the old house here.

I love these videos you have and where everything came from, your bedroom is so pretty and extra special with all the wonderful items you have from loved ones. I had an aunt Francis also that made me quilts and special memories from family.

I love your posts. Something about them reminds me of stories of my North Carolina Rhyne grandparents and their family home. I never got to see it but hopefully I will as my done also named Rhyne lives in North Carolina now.
