Autumn on the Back Porch – Using What I Have

Hi everyone! I’m sharing my back porch today with some fall decor – all of which I had. I made the pillow covers, runners and bows last year, and just switched out what I had for summer for a festive autumn look.

I had a lot of fabric left over from decorating at Balsam Mountain Preserve in past years, so I used scraps of this and that for some pretty, country farmhouse pillow covers and the bows I love to make.

This is a vintage inherited linen tablecloth I love to bring out this time of year as the colors are so perfect for fall. I bought the leaf platter at Walmart probably 15 years ago.

It’s been years since I set a fall table out here, and I have really missed doing that. I used my old Brown Drip plates with the Blue Ridge “County Fair” salad plates, napkins from amazon years ago, sterling Wallace & Sons “Louvre” flatware, and my favorite Indiana Glass “Whitehall” in amber. Now –  this is a lesson in getting rid of things. I sold my set of amber “Whitehall” in a yard sale years ago and regretted it almost immediately. I found these on eBay last year😀 I use all my things, and I like having options to rotate in and out seasonally. I’d much rather have dinnerware and what I call “useful things” I can change out for each season rather than plastic “decor” in tubs, and I think it’s a much better investment.

I love this time of year so much and don’t take a moment of this beauty for granted. We’re a little late here with leaf color, but it’s been beautiful anyway.

I have a new video up on the channel, so be sure to check that out. It’s just a nice, peaceful video with mostly music, some of my favorite fall quotes and mountain scenery we shot, and decorating on the back porch.

Happy Fall friends!!

Anita

Just lovely. So many of your pieces bring back childhood memories. We had the Indiana Glass “Whitehall“ in amber ans our iced tea glasses and also blue ridge crabapple dishes, were our camping dishes! Wish I had that set now, but do still have the platter.

The stunning nature and beauty , the calm music, and the love and care for which you set your table, was truly calming . It gave me a spot of time today to calm my self amidst the chaos and destruction of what’s happening in our beautiful and once free country. Thank you for the time you took to post this . I’ve followed your postings for years , and more than ever, nature and calm is what we all need. Thank you for sharing all your recipes , and love of decorating with what makes us happy…… and most of all the nature that is there if we can all take time to go out and be in it. Peace to you , be well .

Once again, I could imagine sitting in all of that beauty–the beauty that you’ve created and the beauty that the Lord has given us. Your special gift never fails to amaze me.
