Summer back porch

Hello everyone! I finally got the back porch all pressure washed and cleaned for summer – I guess it’s about time😂 My daughter will be here from Minneapolis next week, so I’m planning to enjoy some sitting around the fire pit and hopefully escaping the heatwave in the cool mountain air.

I pretty much used the same things I always do – and most of this furniture has been here for 18 years😂 I just clean it, paint when needed and get as much good as I can from it!

I had another one of these toile pillow covers like I used on the front porch, and wanted to keep the reds and yellows out here as well. I made all these pillow covers including the black floral seat covers many years ago.

I wanted to mix things up with the reds, pinks, yellows, etc., and the black really grounds all that.

My daughter bought the gardening hat for me at a fair in Alabama, and it is wonderful to wear out in the hot sun gardening!

In this rocker, I have an old seat cushion I made two different slipcovers for. The black floral on the bottom stays, and I just change out the one on top for the season. I made the ticking stripe to cover the green underneath.

I’ve just layered a lot of different things to get a lived-in, country, kind of “grandma chic” look.

This is a favorite spot every morning.

I literally tucked tree branches into bottles of water because I didn’t have anything like a potted palm, etc., and wanted a touch of greenery on the porch.

We’ve used this porch a lot over the years, and my kids loved to come out here and sit at this breakfast bar that was in my grandmother’s “mother-in-law” suite next door at my parents’ house.

Right outside the laundry/mud room door, I have this bistro set that we bought at Kmart 20 years ago. I painted and recovered the seats years ago, and just used a crochet topper.

I normally just have a plastic red check tablecloth on the table – we’ve had this set almost 20 years as well. I added a lace tablecloth and vintage linen one for some color.

I added my oil lamps for night time, and it really turns into such a pretty space.

We’ve enjoyed this porch for almost 20 years here, and many meals have been eaten here with our kids, my parents, and other friends and family. It definitely holds a lot of memories, and, hopefully, we’ll make many more here❤️

There’s a video on my channel with some behind the scenes and a pretty reveal, so be sure to check that out!

***I will be back next week with a summer patriotic Americana tour, so be sure to not miss that!! I’ll also be telling some of my family stories, and my parents will be sharing some of their family history here!!

Thanks for stopping by the back porch!!

I love your porch and all the family memories, they’re so special. I too have memories of my family on my screened-in porch. Love being outside when it’s cool in the mornings or evenings. Have a great time with your daughter.
