Hi friends! I’m back with a little Fall front porch makeover – using what I had and what I could gather around the property and from the garden.
I really just did exactly the same thing I did last year. I got out the same bows I’d made a few years back, pillow covers and fabrics, and of course I gathered from the property and garden. I always grow pumpkins, gourds sand marigolds specifically for using on the porch.
These bows are just made from scraps of fabric, and it’s something I’ve been doing for years.
I found some rose hips from the quite invasive multi-flora rose to use here, and although they’re super thorny, they almost look like bittersweet. I’ve been growing bittersweet for a while, but mine is never pretty enough to use.
It’s been super hot here so we really don’t have the colored leaves I usually get, but there were a few sourwood and dogwood branches with a little color. I gathered golden rod and marigolds then added in some of mother’s zinnias.
The gourds and mini pumpkins here were all volunteers in the back yard.
I gathered some hydrangeas to add to this antique watering can along with some sourwood, black eyed susans and golden rod. The solar lanterns are so nice at night – and they’ve also come in handy when the power is off.
I love how it turned out! Honestly, just getting it cleaned up from summer would have been enough! I am hoping and praying for some cooler more normal weather here soon, and also for everyone else suffering from this extreme heat. I’m so ready for fall!!
