Hi everyone! I’m so glad you’re here for my first Christmas post of the season! Y’all know I love anything vintage, passed down, found in mother’s attic, etc., and I love creating something new and different with all the things I’ve collected over the years.
I had a particular vision this year of creating a cabin-inspired rustic Christmas with lots of natural elements and rustic textures.

I used kilim pillows, saddle blankets, fur throws, lots of natural greenery, and some of my Native art collection to bring that vision to life.

It gets cold here in the house, so a warm throw is essential for keeping warm when lounging to watch TV or just hang out with family. This is a new throw I bought at Belk, and my daughter got it broken in for me while home from Minneapolis for Thanksgiving😊 I have been looking for a fur throw for years and finally went to look locally at Belk and found this one that I absolutely love!!

Every year I bring out a lot of the same things, and this angel candle holder is one of them from the 1990s as well as the red glass candle holders also from the 1990s. I chose some of granddaddy and great grandmother’s books based on the red and green colors, and added Navajo and Sioux pottery in Christmasy colors. The antique Cherokee river cane egg basket is filled with white pine, boxwood, cedar, mountain fire pieris and nandina berries from the yard.

I made the cardboard replica of the house daddy grew up in here about 12 years ago and bring it out every year. I found the church on eBay about 12 years ago as well.

The windows actually came out of the old house, and I have decorated them with swags of cedar.

My oldest daughter gifted me the alpaca throw several years back, and I made several of these red pillow covers about 10 years ago.

I really had a red/black color palette in my head, so I added some Mattaponi pottery, a Cherokee flute, and basket to this table that belonged to my great grandfather. The tole lamp is from the 1970s.

This is the Noblis Fir from Grandin Road that I bought in 2014 for a photo shoot. I love the space between branches and love the vintage look it has. It’s currently on sale for $179 plus an additional 25% coupon available. (**NOT SPONSORED) I bought it for $159, and it’s been well worth the money and has lasted year after year.
I used incandescent clear mini lights down the center, then added my Tru-Tone vintage style lights. These are the *only* LED bulbs that have the warm, vintage glow of the old C7s. Y’all know I’ve been talking about how I hate LED Christmas lights for years, and now suddenly everyone else is also talking about it and switching back to incandescent😏 Y’all saw it here first for sure😁

I added some fabric around the middle then used crocheted snowflakes my mother bought as well as some my grandmothers made, paper snowflakes my children and husband made, plaid bows I made in the 1990s, popcorn garland, dried oranges and little plaid stockings I made. I added a few icicles I have had in my bins forever – probably from Walmart years ago and a crocheted angel topper my late Aunt Jody gave me.

Again, I chose books from my grandfather and great grandmother in red and green, Mexican and Cherokee pottery, a Nativity from Ecuador, and one my husband found at Walmart years ago.

These are the stockings I’ve used for my kids for years, so I thought the fur was perfect for this rustic, cabin style. The Cherokee stick ball sticks were a gift from my daddy many years ago, and his little cowboy boots also sit under the tree.

The eskimo doll was under the tree for me many years ago and is still a treasure.

These are the most precious memories❤️❤️❤️

I love how everything turned out in here this year! I always try to recreate the magic my mother made for us, even though the beautiful memories I have will never be matched, I’m sure❤️ I do hope I’ve created memories for my own children to keep and treasure over the years.
I have a new video up on the channel showing some behind-the-scenes, so be sure to check that out and make sure you are subscribed so you don’t miss any Christmas content!!

Thank you so much Jeanie!!
I have to laugh how the Ralph Lauren Christmas is a big thing, and we have been doing it for years. I know I have some ribbon somewhere, but like you i will be using tried and true old decor moved around in some different space. Love the coziness and classic beauty of the ‘cabin’, its simply lovely! Hugs and Happy Winter and have a Merry Holiday season! Sandi

Right, Sandi!! I was like we’ve all been doing this forever😂 Thank you so much, and merry Christmas to you!
I love all the memories and treasures you share of Christmas, everything looks so warm and cozy. When I start decorating for Christmas I have old things that I love to bring out and think of the days long ago. My parents and grandparents are long gone but the memories and making more are the best. I pray you had a blessed Thanksgiving.
