White Christmas in the mountains

Hello friends! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas😊 We got the sweet gift of snow on Christmas Eve, and despite how quickly the rain turned to snow and started to lay, everyone got home safely.

The little cottage in the woods sure looks cozy and warm in the snow, so I wanted to share our porch and a few snow pics.

I’m still loving the green shutter project I did last summer, and instead of putting wreaths on the french doors, I decided to put them on the shutters, which I love because they don’t obstruct our views.

I basically did what I usually do bringing out granddaddy’s sled, my brother’s truck and a hemlock tree from the woods.

Strips of fabric are tied into bows just like my grandmother made.

I did move the bed springs to the middle and hung my grapevine wreath there.

I still have not made cushions for the rockers, but added these outdoor pillows I found on clearance at Walmart last summer. The reds ended up working nicely.

Oh what a view from the porch this is😍

This was such a pretty snow that stuck to every branch and turned everything into a winter wonderland.

The white snow really shows off the Carolina blue skies as well.

I do love winter because the house is cozy, warm and inviting.

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is time for home.” Edith Sitwell

It’s my favorite time of year.

“It was so wonderful to be there, safe at home, sheltered from the winds and the cold. Laura thought that this must be a little like heaven, where the weary are at rest.”

― Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Long Winter
