Cozy fall farmhouse kitchen

Hello friends! Here we are in November already with Christmas around the corner! How can that be?

I’m still here enjoying these beautiful fall days and thinking about Thanksgiving. I love November and all that it offers, so embracing and savoring these days is important to me.

This is the first time I’ve actually shared my kitchen in the fall as I’m usually decorating the first of September. This is truly my fall kitchen:-)

I really embraced nature using the bright, bold colors along with natural decor from right outside my door.

I never shared, but I rewired the recessed light here so I could use this hanging lamp I had stored away. I love the warm glow it gives the room at night especially.

I made hydrangea garlands to go over the window and around the chandelier, and added oak and maple leaves for more fall color.

I really am loving the oranges and rust colors, so I used lots of fabrics and accessories with those colors.

I found the brown floral fabric last spring and knew I wanted to use it for fall. I made the orange curtains from leftover apron fabric.

I love all my McCoy and Hull Brown Drip, and the earthy colors are so perfect for this season.

Another seasonal favorite is the marigold carnival glass, which I got from my mother. Vintage framed needlepoints are from a family friend.

I figured out a way to use the old Pilot- Knob Coffee can from granddaddy’s store for coffee by placing a glass canister inside. It fit perfectly, and since there’s no lid, I can use the canister lid.

I had put up the dark cranberry portieres in the doorway, but decided I liked the light coming through so much I put the sheers back.

My granddaddy framed the print August 28, 1935 and marked that on the back. I decided to use it here on the old window instead of the paintings I normally use and love all the brown/rust/orange tones.

I love to bring out the family photos this time of year as well.

I added a scarf to the bench for color.

I do love the warm glow the kitchen has, which is reflected just outside the windows.

These are my favorite colors, and this is my favorite season.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to click on the video to see some beautiful fall footage and follow along as I make an apple cake on a rainy, fall day:-)

I really enjoyed your video and how you pay tribute to those family members who have passed on. Never thought about my grandmother cooking/baking by candle light but I’m sure she did. That was nice how you brought that idea back. By the way, THAT.CAKE. Yum with coffee around the table with those we love the most! Pure heaven. House and colors look amazing. Absolutely enjoy your blog each time you post! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Linda thank you so much for that and for your encouragement as well☺️☺️ We do love the cake and the chance to sit and enjoy it together☺️

When I started to film making the cake, the picture of them cooking that way immediately struck me, and it was something I’d not thought of either😊

I have made your apple cake several times and it is always a winner! A perfect dessert for this time of the year with ripe apples and the warm seasonings that go so well with fall. Your kitchen is beautiful as always. Happy Fall in the mountains!

Oh I’m so happy to hear that Carolyn! I made it a couple of times in the last few weeks just to double check the recipe because I tend to not actually follow the recipes, and one little tweak can make it not be right😂😂 The last one I made in this video turned out really, really well so at least I know the recipe is right☺️ We really do love it and love that it is simple and that there are not a lot of complex spicy flavors☺️

Anita , I cannot tell you just how much I savored this post. It calmed me down so. I have ( and just used today) the same large gold Pyrex bowl from my mother. I pulled it out of a dumpster when we were selling my parent’s home. I have the same towel you rested it upon. The last sentence of your video spoke to me do resoundingly. Thank you for this awe inspiring post and video.I loved it!
