Hello everyone! I’m sharing a little spring refresh in the living room! I used things I already had and just brought some yellow and florals into the room to give it more of a cozy spring feel.

I brought back the gold kilim pillows my daughter gifted me a few years back, and added some red velvet from Walmart a few years ago as well. I made the floral pillow covers out of the Kaufmann Queensland fabric I bought about five years ago. I’m seeing a lot of that particular 1990s-era fabric in cottage-style decor this season.

The Kalandiva plant has finished blooming, so I brought it in here from the bedroom and love it even without blooms. I added some of graddaddy and great grandmother’s books as well as a brass candelabra mother bought in Lebanon in the 1970s.

I bought the yellow pillow covers five years ago on amazon, but they are no longer available. I’ve really enjoyed them over the last few years.

The red tole lamp was a facebook marketplace find last year, and I still love it. The inherited Chinese Ancestor prints hang on windows from the old house.

On great grandmother’s chaise, I added another of the yellow pillows and a larger floral one I made. I also made the solid red pillow cover years ago. I bought the Moroccan wedding blanket probably seven-eight years ago at World Market.

The box was a find in Germany, and the brass incense burner is an inherited antique from India.

My great grandfather and grandmother are in the top photo with my great aunt and uncle.

I clipped some of my grandmother’s “Mock Orange” branches from mother’s garden and added some of the peonies my great grandfather planted.

I love how the simple addition of plants can really make a room feel like spring, but also a few pops of yellow just feel like this season to me.

I really just changed a few things around and rotated some others for a fresh new look. I prefer to rotate instead of buying/purging then going through that never-ending cycle again. It makes me appreciate the things I do have, and nothing just sits in a closet not getting used. I like to use what I have and make it pretty❤️
Thanks so much for stopping by! There’s a video linked here as well so be sure to check that out and subscribe to my channel🙂 If you missed my “Easy Sourdough Recipe” be sure to check it out as well.

It warms my heart that you have blooms from plants your grandmother and great grandfather planted! That you know where they are planted and who [loved] and planted them….very special.
As always, your room additions are lovely!

Absolutely, Marlene!!
You know how much I love your use of red…and the pops of yellow do make it feel a bit like spring. Such richness in textures, but the true richness is in the family heirlooms you treasure. ( SO do I !) Beautiful room, wish we were neighbors! sending hugs, Alda
