Hi everyone! I can’t say I really decorate for fall in the bedrooms – you’re not going to see a plastic leaf garland hanging over the headboard, but I always like to add seasonal touches mostly with textiles, warm down comforters for cold weather, and maybe a rug or two for the wood floors.

I pretty much always use all white linens then add to that with pillows, blankets, quilts, etc., for each season. This summer, I ran across a beautiful Beacon Blanket, and funny enough, the business selling them was nearby in Sylva – Southern Textiles. (They also sell on amazon, etsy and eBay) I have a couple of vintage Beacon blankets and never knew they were made for many years here in Swannanoa. They’re now made in Flat Rock, also nearby. Back before textile mills, and other manufacturing sadly moved to China, North Carolina was a big producer of textiles.

I loved this pattern and colors and thought it was so pretty for fall. The kilim pillow covers came from this shop on etsy in Turkey, and were $8 and $10 with free shipping and no tariffs, which I found out is adding 50-60% to anything from India.
These paintings are by my late uncle in Montana, Rex Thrower, and I’ve treasured them for years. My grandmother gave me the two smaller ones, and Daddy gave me the larger one.

I added a shadow box I’d put together many years ago with some of the collection of arrow heads my Pappaw Chandler picked up over the years on his land. The larger vase is Navajo, and I don’t know the origin of the wedding vase but found that at a thrift store years ago. I added some beautiful maple leaves in an inherited brass vase. The Beacon blanket is vintage from the 1970s I think.

I added pillow covers I already had to add some color and texture to the chaise.

Some of the Cherokee art I treasure are these two river cane baskets. My daughter bought the one on the cedar chest for me, and it’s from Qualla Arts and Crafts in Cherokee, the largest Coop for Native Artists.

This one is antique made by Cherokee weaver, Eva Wolfe, and has been here on the property for many years.
The baskets on the mantel are all Cherokee Honeysuckle baskets, and the moccasins were made in Cherokee many years ago. The corn bead necklace has been hanging on the mantel for years. The corn bead tradition is newer.

I moved the photo my husband took form the living room to here because I thought the colors were just perfect for this room for fall.

I just love how this room turned out. With the beautiful, warm fall colors outside, it just glows. I love how the warm orange/rust and brown tones really warm up the look and reflect, ever so subtly, this beautiful season.
I’ve linked a video with our vlog to Cherokee sharing where I find some of my art and some leaf looking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so be sure to check that out!
Thanks for stopping by!
